Matthew 21:12 Jesus went into the temple courtyard and threw out everyone who was buying and selling there. He overturned the moneychangers tables and the chairs of those who sold pigeons. He told them, "Scripture says, " My house will be called a house of prayer; but you're turning it into to a gathering place for thieves!" Blind and lame people came to him in the temple courtyard, and he healed them. When the chief priests and the scribes saw the amazing miracles he performed and the children shouting in the temple courtyard, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were irritated. They said to him, "Do you hear what these children are saying?" Jesus replied, "Yes, I do. Have you never read, "From the mouths of little children and infants, you have created praise?" He left them and went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there. Some would say that Jesus sinned when He did that and why was Jesus so angry with the moneychangers? The moneychangers exchanged Roman currency for temple currency. They often made a lot of money for themselves in the process. Merchants charged high prices for animals used in sacrifices. These people took advantage of those who came to worship God. In throwing out the moneychangers, Jesus was expressing God's anger with those who had turned a house of worship into a place of business. Jesus is in the business of saving lives and the Romans showed no respect for God. While the children recognized the Messiah and began to praise Him, on the hand, the priests in the temple became angry and wanted him kicked out. However, Jesus demonstrated that the only exchange taking place in the house of the Lord, would be you exchanging your old life for a new one.
